Review of S-League 2011 Week 10

Hello guys. Am back for a short review of 2 games that happened this week.

First up, Courts Young Lions vs Home United. For 92 minutes, it was a goalless stalemate. A lot of actions, no goal produced. Home United lacked the finishing, while Young Lions lacked a goal scorer. I believe if Khairul Nizam is playing for the Young Lions, they would have gotten a goal with their attacking displays.

Then in the 93rd minute, substitute Firdaus Idros took a shot beyond Young Lion's keeper, Izwan Mahbud's reach. At that moment, 11 gallant lions' hearts were broken. Goalkeeper Izwan, defender Shakir all laid on the floor, dejected. Everyone looked disappointed. After fighting on for 92 minutes, they had to cruelly concede in the last minute. Right after the kick off, referee Sukhbir Singh blew the final whistle. That whistle was too painful for the lions to hear. No doubt the goal was a goal of a luck, but it had broken 11 lions' heart.

Man of the Match: Fazli Ayob (CYL). Energetic display from the Young Lions winger. Kept on whipping crosses from the right flank but no one was there to finish it off. One to look out for the future.

Worst player: Kim Dae Eui (HUFC). The once Korean League MVP was a let off. Perhaps age is catching up with him. Didn't seem like a former K-League MVP to me. Boo.

Up next, SAFFC vs Etoile. Great encounter. Game ended in a 1-1 draw. The first half was a half with much attacking displays, and great goalkeeping to go with it. Antonin Trilles of Etoile was brilliant in keeping out SAF attacks. And on the other side, Shahril Jantan was not bad either. Etoile's Theo Raymond was a threat with his freekicks. While the wingers of SAF, Taisuke Akiyoshi and Mustaqim Manzur were lively throughout.

The second half started with a bang. Etoile's Anthony Moulin scored within 2 minutes from kickoff, however, with an unlucky mistake from an SAF defender. Good finishing, 1-0. SAF came back strongly and scored the equaliser in 10 minutes. From a cross, Fazrul Nawaz rose highest to head the ball beyond Trilles' reach. Game on. Both teams surged forward looking for a winning goal which however, eluded both teams.

Drama at the end where a frustrated Mislav Karoglan tackled Serge Souchon. Souchon stood up and was accidentally pushed by the referee and fell to the ground again. That caused some fights between both set of players and had to be pulled away by both captains. Referee was booed after that incident.

Man of the Match: Franklin Anzite (Etoile). The big defender was solid throughout. Kept SAFFC's Mislav Karoglan throughout the game and hardly let him have a sniff at goal. However, one mistake from him almost caused SAF to open the scoring. Still, well done.
Bah Mamadou (SAFFC). No you're not seeing things. There were 2 MOM for me. Bah was also solid at the back. Winning balls on the ground and on the air. Did not let much get through him and even had a few attacking forays. Thumbs up Bah.

Worst player: Mislav Karoglan (SAFFC). 2 SAF games, 2 times worst player. Does Kari hate the JBS pitch so much? Whenever he plays here, he plays badly. He needs to score if SAF wants to win. He has to control his temper too. Trying too hard.
